Artists and scientists are often considered to work in separate and distinct pursuits. Beyond these artificial vertical silos, language bleeds from one pursuit to another.
Erasto Arena Proyecto Media (2009)
A lively short film of a cultural community event in a local neighborhood in the Los Angeles area, Wyvernwood. Shot in the same fashion as Experiments with Digital (2005), this film takes the viewer through a fast-paced, but observational perspective of a local community event hosted within the Wyvernwood neighborhood.
Valerie and Chris (2004)
A young couple talks intimately on a sunny but windy shoreline. They walk around the beach together. Although there is no verbal audio, we witness a young couple portray hardships and fleeting moments together.
Messages in the Night (2005)
A young man wanders the streets in a dimly lit, metropolitan city. As he roams the streets, recorded messages from a telephone repeatedly play in the background. Voicemails from what seem to be friends, relatives, and medical specialists check in to an older woman who doesn’t seem to be fully present for her son. As these voicemails play, the young man continues to wander amongst the shadows of the night.
Experiments with Digital (2005)
A young man films his journey roaming around the Westwood area in Los Angeles. This short film portrays a slightly fast-paced compilation of walking around the city streets and people watching. This short film was created around 2005.
Superhighway to Death and Prosperity (2003)
A short documentary with little to no commentary. Current events that occurred in the early 2000s and silent observations of Robles’s surroundings in San Diego are sprinkled in bits throughout this short film.
